Since 1934, Kern Medical has been training residents and
health care professionals in our community.

Application Process

To address the growing challenges in the residency application and interview process, the Council and Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) has proposed new specialty-wide standards for Ob/Gyn Residency programs.

  • ERAS opens and will have access to MSPE on September 27, 2023
  • Our final application deadline will be October 1, 2023
  • Applicants will have a minimum of 48 hours to accept an interview offer
  • Interviews dates are 11/27/2023, 11/30/2023, 12/04/2023, 12/14/2023, 12/18/2023, 01/08/2024 and 01/16/2024.
  • All communication will be done through ERAS

Kern Medical Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is dedicated to recruiting the best candidate through our selection process. We are aware that the COVID-19 pandemic has imposed challenges for this year applicants. We will do our best to be flexible during these trying times. We are implementing the following for interview season this year

  • All interviews will be conducted virtually. Any documents that require the applicant’s signature, sample schedules, etc, will be sent through ERAS.
  • We do not offer “second looks”
  • The program understands that technical difficulties can occur during virtual interviews

2024 Match Application Review

There are four PGY-1 positions available. Applications received after October 1st will be considered for waitlist status only. Invitations to interview will be extended on November 24 through December 1st. Applications must contain the following to be considered:

  • My ERAS common application
  • Personal Statement
  • CV (generated through ERAS)
  • USMLE Step 1. Applicants must also have passed USMLE Step II (CS and CK) before starting residency.
  • Medical School Transcripts
  • We require three letters of recommendation, at least one letter should be from an Ob/Gyn who knows you the best.
