Visitor Restrictions

Due to COVID-19, Kern Medical is restricting the number of visitors at our hospital and clinics during this time to protect our staff, physicians, patients, and visitors.

These visitor restrictions are effective as of October 4, 2021 until further notice. These visitor restrictions may change as circumstances require.

Visitors must provide proof of identification and 1) Proof of a negative C0VID-19 test completed within no greater than 72 hours* or 2) Proof of completing vaccination for C0VID-19 with either one dose of Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine or two doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. There must be at least 14 days since receiving the last dose.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

  • Permit 1 visitor per day for each adult; 2 visitors per day for pediatric patients
  • 1 visitor for COVID-19+ or rule out COVID-19 pediatric patients
  • Exception: end of life patients
  • No exchange of visitors

MATERNAL HEALTH – LABOR & DELIVERY (OB)

  • 2 visitors per encounter selected by “Mom” to be present during labor and birth
  • 1 visitor for COVID-19+ patients

Visitors to Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery will be provided medical masks

NEONATAL ICU (NICU) & PEDIATRICS

  • 2 "banded" visitors, may be alone or together, per day - NICU
  • 2 parents/visitors per patient, per day - Pediatrics

AREAS ALLOWING ONE VISITOR PER PATIENT, PER DAY

  • Maternal Health (Post-Partum)
  • Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Areas where a pediatric patient is being treated, i.e., Radiology
  • Diagnostic Treatment Center
  • Acute Care (2C, 3C, 3D, ICU/DOU)
  • Outpatient Ultrasound at Columbus Clinic

One overnight visitor per patient will be permitted in the Pediatric unit and Maternal Health Visiting Hours are 8:30 am to 8:30 pm

AREAS WITH NO VISITORS

  • Behavioral Health Unit
  • Outpatient Radiology
  • All Other Areas of Hospital

Please arrange for those who cannot enter the hospital or clinics to wait elsewhere and not in the waiting rooms or in the areas immediately in front of the hospitals or clinics.

Exceptions may be considered, including trauma patients, comfort care, or patients reliant on an advocate for their care. Children under the age of 18 may not visit or enter the hospital or clinics unless seeking care.

Visitors who do not have a medical mask will have one provided.
