Alexandra W. Elias, MD

About Dr. Elias

Dr. Alex Elias was born in Atlanta, GA and is a graduate of University of California Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. After teaching 9th grade Earth Science at Oakland High School with Teach for America, she obtained her medical degree at University of California Davis. Her general surgery residency was at the Mayo Clinic Florida, and she completed her training with a colorectal surgery fellowship at Advent Health Orlando.

Dr. Elias is the sole colorectal surgeon at Kern Medical in Bakersfield, CA. She enjoys the breadth the colorectal field offers and will treat patients with colon, rectal, and anal cancers, a variety of anorectal pathology, such as fistulae and hemorrhoids, gastrointestinal disorders, such as Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, and sequelae of pelvic floor dysfunction, such as prolapse and incontinence. She has a special interest in robotic surgery.

In order to spend extended maternity leave with her second son, Brodey, who was born in September, Dr. Elias has delayed starting her new position at Kern Medical until January. Her first son, Asa, was born with gastroschisis during her chief year. When Dr. Elias isn’t operating or changing diapers, you can find her on her peloton, on a run, in the water, or at a reggae concert.
