About Dr. Vikas

Dr. Vikas Nookala is an Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Kern Medical with specialized training in women’s health, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and high-risk obstetric care.

Dr. Nookala earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of California, San Diego. He then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine.

Dr. Nookala completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Kern Medical, where he gained extensive experience caring for women throughout all stages of pregnancy and providing comprehensive gynecologic care. During his training, he performed more than 200 vaginal deliveries and 200 cesarean sections and developed expertise in vaginal, laparoscopic, robotic, and open surgical procedures.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Nookala has been actively involved in research and quality improvement initiatives focused on women’s health, minimally invasive surgery, pelvic floor disorders, and urinary incontinence. His scholarly work has been presented at regional research forums, and he has been recognized for outstanding performance in urogynecology and research achievement during his residency training.

At Kern Medical, Dr. Nookala provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care and is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered treatment. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he is dedicated to improving access to quality healthcare for the diverse communities of Kern County.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Nookala enjoys scuba diving, playing the saxophone, traveling, following NBA basketball, and spending time with rescue dogs.
