Rasha Kuran, MD

About Dr. Kuran

Dr. Kuran is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences at David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA, and currently serves as a teaching attending in the Department of Medicine and is Associate Medical Director of the Valley Fever Institute.

Dr. Kuran has been with Kern Medical since 2019. Prior to that she had a thriving private practice in Bakersfield for 7 years. This included a busy home antibiotic program. Served at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital as Infection control and ASP program chair. Served on their PNT and executive committees. Ran the Kern Health Systems Priority Care clinic outpatient antibiotics program. And provided correctional facilities in the Central Valley with infectious disease consultation via telehealth and in person.

She maintains membership at the Infectious Disease Society of America and Infectious Disease Association of California and Served as council/Board member to the IDAC in 2009-2010.

Dr. Kuran moved to Kern County from Orange County where she served the community at 10 Orange County hospitals in a busy ID specialist private practice for 8 years. She Chaired Infection Control and ASP committees at local hospitals and supported local medical organizations such as OCMA.

Dr. Kuran received the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) Degree at the University Of Jordan in 1997 at the age of 23 with honors after having been awarded full scholarship provided by Ministry of Education for top 10 highest academic achievement in the country. She moved to the United States and engaged in research at University of California Irvine for a year then joined the Internal Medicine residency program at Kern Medical 2000-2003 during which time she was awarded the Robert S. Mosser Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine, voted Teaching Resident of the year and awarded the Solomon Scholars Research Award. She then completed Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at UCI.

Dr. Kuran enjoys teaching and has lectured at Medical Staff meetings in Orange and Kern Counties on the topics of Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis and sepsis.
