Petre P. Motiu, MD,FACOG

About Dr. Motiu

Dr. Petre P. Motiu is a board-certified OB-GYN trained in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

Dr. Motiu earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology in the Columbia University pre-med program. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine on a four-year Laszlo Tauber Surgery Scholarship. He completed his residency in the four-year OB-GYN program at Loyola University in Chicago.

Before arriving in the United States in 1986, Dr. Motiu studied at the Bucharest (Romania) Institute of Physical Education and Sport, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in teaching physical education and sports, and receiving training as an Olympic judo coach.

He is an associate faculty member in the Kern Medical OB-GYN Residency Program and has been in private practice at Women Living Healthy clinics in Valley Springs and San Andreas. He has served on the OB-GYN hospital staff and in the community clinic at Sutter Coast Hospital and as OB clinical director at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas. He was an OB-GYN staff and clinical instructor in the GP Residency Program at Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown, Pa. He has also worked in Native American health-care.

Dr. Motiu became a U.S. citizen in 1990. He and his wife Joana Mihaila-Motiu, DDS, have two sons in college. He speaks English, Spanish, French and Romanian. He emigrated from Romania and is an award-winning Judo expert who has trained competitors at the Olympic level.
