Katelyn B. Furey, MD

About Dr. Furey

Dr. Katelyn B. Furey specializes in gynecologic oncology, and completed her fellowship at Los Angeles General Medical Center and the University of Southern California. Dr. Furey completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA’s Ronald Reagan Medical Center, where she developed a strong clinical foundation in complex gynecologic care, minimally invasive surgery, and the multidisciplinary management of gynecologic malignancies.

Dr. Furey earned her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine, following a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has also completed dedicated training experiences at renowned institutions, including a clinical rotation through the MD Anderson Rutledge Fellowship.

Her academic interests focus on improving outcomes in gynecologic cancers, particularly cervical and endometrial disease. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications examining racial and ethnic disparities in cancer outcomes, trends in adolescent and young adult malignancies, fertility-sparing surgical approaches, and management strategies for preinvasive gynecologic disease. Her research has appeared in leading journals such as Gynecologic Oncology, American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy.

Dr. Furey has been recognized nationally for her clinical excellence, earning both the Society of Gynecologic Oncology’s Outstanding Resident Award and the AAGL Recognition of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology.

She brings a longstanding commitment to global health, having participated in clinical and community-based work across Vietnam, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Mexico. She also maintains advanced proficiency in medical Spanish.
