Jigar Patel, MD

About Dr. Patel

Dr. Jigar Patel is an Infectious Disease physician at Kern Medical with specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of complex infectious diseases, including Valley Fever, HIV/AIDS, bloodstream infections, and other challenging medical conditions.

Dr. Patel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of the Pacific. He then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Kern Medical/UCLA and went on to pursue fellowship training in Infectious Disease through the Kern Medical/UCLA Infectious Disease Fellowship Program.

Throughout his training, Dr. Patel has been actively involved in research focused on infectious diseases, particularly coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever), a condition that significantly impacts communities throughout the Central Valley. His work has been presented at regional and national conferences and has contributed to advancing the understanding and treatment of complex infectious diseases.

At Kern Medical, Dr. Patel provides comprehensive infectious disease consultation and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based care for hospitalized and outpatient patients. He is committed to medical education and has been recognized for his mentorship of medical students and trainees.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with family and friends, staying active, and following developments in science and healthcare. He is proud to serve the communities of Kern County and help improve the health of patients throughout the region.
