About Dr. Lu
Dr. Brian Lu is a compassionate, community-minded physician specializing in psychiatry, with broad clinical training and a demonstrated commitment to public service, behavioral health equity, and culturally informed care.
Dr. Brian Lu is trained in both adult psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry, having served as chief academic fellow during his University of California, Los Angeles – Kern Medical Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program. He has also completed translational neuroimaging research in addition to presentations at nationally recognized neuroscience and child and adolescent psychiatry conferences.
His clinical training has encompassed extensive experience across multiple domains of psychiatry, including general adult, consult-liaison, forensic, geriatric, emergency, and child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Lu has cared for diverse patient populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings, while navigating the complexities of the mental health system.
Dr. Lu’s passion for community mental health is evident in his longstanding record of volunteerism and advocacy. He has volunteered at a community free clinic, implementing a digital scheduling tool to improve clinical efficiency. He has also supported numerous organizations, including those providing resources to victims impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as working with youth on health literacy and wellness. His contributions have been recognized through multiple awards and honors, including receiving a community service grant for designing and implementing a student-centered initiative addressing mental wellness, bullying, and school engagement.
With a strong foundation in both the biological and psychosocial dimensions of medicine, Dr. Lu is dedicated to advancing mental health care that is equitable, community-informed, and grounded in human dignity.
