Joseph Cheng-Thai Chen, MD
Joseph Cheng-Thai Chen is Chief of Neurosurgery at Kern Medical and an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Chen is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. He earned master’s and doctoral degrees in physiology and biophysics and his medical degree from New York University. He interned and completed his residency in neurological surgery at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the New York University Department of Physiology and Neuroscience, and held functional neurosurgery clerkships at CHU Grenoble, France, and Hopital Neurologique Pierre Wertheimer, in Lyon, France.
He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has been an invited speaker at both domestic and international neurosurgical forums.
Dr. Chen is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and a member of the Western Neurosurgical Society. Dr. Chen is a Director of the California Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Chen’s practice emphasis include cranial microsurgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, craniofacial pain, as well as cranial and spinal trauma.
