Welcome to Kern Medical

Hello, and welcome.

Kern Medical is a leading Central Valley health care organization, with a modern 222-bed hospital, a comprehensive offering of primary care and specialty clinics, and a large body of highly skilled doctors, nurses, technicians and other health-care providers.

With the area’s only trauma center and teaching hospital, many of our services are unequaled in the region. Our volunteers, our charitable foundation, and our own employees eagerly support our mission of health and safety.

As a public hospital, we are committed to serving the people of our community. Our care, while sophisticated, comes with compassion, respect and kindness in a community of diverse needs.

Kern Medical into the Future

Hello, I am Russell Judd, the Chief Executive Officer of Kern Medical. I am pleased you are considering Kern Medical, especially at such a historically significant and exciting time – both for us and for you.

This year we transitioned from being owned and operated by the County of Kern to becoming a freestanding Hospital Authority.  Our medical center, physicians, and clinics continue our mission to care for our entire community and to serve as the area’s only teaching hospital and trauma center.

As a Hospital Authority we are more agile, flexible, and responsive to serving our community’s needs, which in turn empowers us to deliver care more efficiently, to expand our services, and to ensure a strong, vibrant future for Kern Medical, our patients, and their families.

With this new structure, we are taking maximum advantage of Kern Medical’s many strengths. And we continue with pride our role as a public, safety net hospital where no one in need is turned away. In the end, it’s all about serving you, the patient. You have my pledge that we will deliver on that promise
