Jacqueline Uy, MD

About Dr. Uy

Dr. Jacqueline Uy is a Family Practice physician at Kern Medical through Clinica Sierra Vista. She received her Doctor of Medicine from University of the Philippines Manila, College of Medicine. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the College of Science at the University of the Philippines. Dr. Uy completed her rotating Internship at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila. She then worked as a Municipal Health Officer at the Municipality of Catigbian in Bohol, Philippines. Here she delivered health services via diagnosis of common diseases in the municipal and barangay clinics, child deliveries, education on healthy lifestyle practices, reproductive health and maternal and newborn child care, and ensured proper vaccination and post-mortem examinations. She was the manager of the Catigbian Municipal Lying-in Health Center and saw a staff of over 14 health workers, nurses, and midwives. She would coordinate monthly local health Board meetings participated by the different sectors in the municipality including local government unit, church, women organizations, schools, and Department of Health. She drafted policies and ordinances on the Standard Operation Procedures for the health center. She then went on to work as a Health Policy Development Fellow at the University of the Philippines UPEcon Foundation Inc. Here, she conducted a series of workshops with the 17 Metro Manila Cities for the formulation of their CIPH with a team from the Department of Health-Bureau of Local Health Development and Local Health Assistant Division. Dr. Uy moved on to work as a Technical Assistant at the HealthGov-Research Triangle International in Manila. She became a volunteer physician at the International Care Ministries, Inc. where she diagnosed and treated indigent patients in remote towns. She also became a Resident Physician at the Ramiro Community Hospital and Borja Community Hospital where she worked in the Emergency Room and Outpatient Department. She then moved to California where she was the Chief Resident at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Dr. Uy’s is an avid learner and her clinical interests include family, preventive and whole-person care, women’s health, pediatric care, and lifestyle medicine. She is fluent in English, Tagalog and Visayan. In her free-time she enjoys traveling, outdoor sports, running and karaoke.
