Fakhruddin Hasta, MD

Dr. Fakhruddin Hasta is a board-certified internist with a longtime presence in Bakersfield. He is skilled in pediatrics, gynecology, occupational and industrial medicine, mental health, orthopedics, hospital medicine, urgent care and emergency care.
He is a graduate of Dow Medical College, the University of Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his internship in general medicine and general surgery at Civil Hospital in Karachi and his residency training in internal medicine at Methodist Hospitals of Dallas (Texas) and Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
He has served as an assistant to physicians in cardiology and occupational medicine clinics at Doctor Care Centers in Dallas and as a research assistant at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School Human Sleep Laboratory. He was an attending physician in ambulatory care and general medicine at Cook County Hospital.
Dr. Hasta has practiced in Bakersfield since 1994, as a staff physician in urgent care and internal medicine at Bakersfield Family Medical Center, as Medical Director at Good Samaritan Urgent Care Center and Universal Industrial Medicine Group, and as a staff physician in urgent care centers and emergency rooms for Emergency Medical Services Group.
He has served as Medical Director for Kern Medical Urgent Care South and as a part-time staff physician at the Veterans Administration Clinic. He continues to serve at Truxton Psychiatric and Medical Group, where he has been a staff internist and primary care physician. Dr. Hasta is also in private practice.
He has served as a clinical professor at California State University-Bakersfield and has taught and mentored resident physicians and medical, nursing, nurse practitioner and physician assistant students. At Cook County Hospital, he received the Intern of the Year award. He participated in a number of research projects early in his career.
Dr. Hasta is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Basic Life Saving and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
