Scott Ragland, DO

About Dr. Ragland

Dr. Scott Ragland, DO is the Director of Ambulatory Care and the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at Kern Medical. He is also the Director of the Medical Student Program and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Dr. Ragland graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed an Osteopathic internship at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He completed his residency training in the Department of Medicine at Kern Medical. On completion of his training, he was awarded the Robert S. Mosser Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine. He joined the hospital’s Department of Medicine as a faculty physician in 1992 and went on to get his Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Medical Education from the University of Southern California.

He is a member of the Continuing Education Committee, Graduate Medical Education Committee, and Interdisciplinary Practice Committee at Kern Medical. He is Chair of the Blood Usage Committee and Quality Management Committee, and President-Elect of Medical Staff.

Dr. Ragland is a participant in the annual walk-a-thon fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes Association. He has been a resident of Bakersfield for almost 15 years and enjoys such outdoor activities as gardening, camping and bike riding.
