About Dr. Fong
Dr. Isabel Fong is the Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacist at Kern Medical.
Dr. Fong received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her Post Graduate Year 1 pharmacy residency in Acute Care and Post Graduate Year 2 residency in Infectious Diseases at Palomar Health.
Dr. Fong’s primary roles at Kern Medical include participating in the daily Infectious Diseases round and collaborating with providers, nurses, and case managers to ensure patients are on appropriate antimicrobial therapy in the inpatient setting and at discharge. She also monitors patients on long-term IV antibiotics at the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Clinic. Dr. Fong is the co-chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. Her interests include education and knowledge transfer of antimicrobial stewardship, Infectious Diseases transitions of care, PK/PD optimization, HIV/AIDS, rapid diagnostic, and coccidioidomycosis.
