George R. Moro, MD,FACS

About Dr. Moro

Dr. George R. Moro is a board-certified surgeon specializing in colon-rectal surgery who has held a wide range of positions as a physician, hospital official and instructor.
Dr. Moro received a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology and zoology from the University of Michigan and a master’s in anthropology from SUNY-Buffalo University. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed Residency in general surgery at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park, N.Y. Did Fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH.

At St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, he has served as chief of general surgery, and chief of staff. He has served on the President’s Advisory Council, CEO Search Committee, and four years on the board of trustees. Dr. Moro was chairman of the Physician Quality Review Board at St. Joseph and chairman of the cancer committee at Western Medical Center, Santa Ana. He was chairman of the Tissue Committee at Virginia Beach General Hospital and director of the Step-Down Unit of Humana Hospital-Bayside, Virginia Beach, where he was in private practice. He also has been affiliated with Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach.

At St. Joseph Health he served on the regional planning committee and chief medical officer search committee and was an elected specialty physician representative for St. Joseph Affiliated Physicians.

He has served as a clinical instructor at the Cornell University School of Medicine and at SUNY-Stony Brook School of Medicine.
He is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

Dr. Moro is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Orange County Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the Orange County Surgical Society and the Society of American Gastroenterologic and Endoscopic Surgeons.
