Elva Lopez, MD

About Dr. Lopez

Dr. Elva Lopez is a board-certified OB-GYN who has worked in a variety of clinical and community service settings in the field of women’s health, Latino interests and youth issues.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychobiology from UCLA, where she also earned her medical degree. She completed her internship in the UCLA San Fernando Valley Program and her residency in OB-GYN at USC Women’s Hospital . She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Lopez has served as Co-Medical Director at the Bakersfield Center for Women’s Helath, the A. Linn Medical Practice and the Glow Laser and Aesthetics Center. She has served as Co-Chairperson for the California Latino Medical Association’s Medical Mentor Program and Latino Health Symposium. She also co-chaired the Cervical Cancer Prevention Project in Arvin and the TeenPregnancy Prevention Project in Delano.

She has served as a consultant for the Wasco Women’s clinic and has been associated with Clinica Sierra Vista in Lamont, National Health Services Inc. at the Wasco Medical Center, the Henry Mayo Family Medical Center in Canyon Country, and Kaiser Permanente Panorama in Panorama City.

Dr. Lopez is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the UCLA Latino Alumni Association, the UCLA Alumni Association Advisory Committee, the statewide and Bakersfield CALMA (California Latino Medical Association) branches, and Latina Leaders of Kern County. She received a National Hispanic Scholarship in 1988.

Dr. Lopez has served as a speaker on Health Career Awareness at the Multicultural Area Health Education Center and has served as coordinator for the UCLA Hispanic Premedical Organization, and as a volunteer for the UCLA Community Service and Project Motivation program, and for the Hypertension Project.
