Life In Bakersfield
Located the Southern portion of San Joaquin Valley, Bakersfield is the 9th largest city in California. The city was founded in 1869 and is the county seat of Kern County, a predominantly agricultural and oil-producing region.
There is a well-established downtown city center with diverse restaurant offerings. Greater Bakersfield is studded with swathes of parkland and long bike trails along Kern River. Some of the local highlights include the Farmers Market, James Beard Award winning Hotel Noriega, the Padre Hotel, Woolworth’s Diner, Dewar’s Ice Cream, Pyrenees Bakery and Smith Bakery, Luigi’s Restaurant, and Murray’s Family Farm.
