Each incoming resident is assigned to an obstetrics and gynecology team, for the duration of the residency, which includes a resident from each year level. Each team rotates through four-month rotation blocks that include Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Gynecological Oncology. The teams share shifts on Labor and Delivery, and have scheduled block days in the operating rooms for their scheduled cases. Although residents are assigned to their own teams, each shift allows the residents from each team to interact, work with, and learn from each other as well as the faculty.
Each resident is also assigned his or her own Continuity Clinic. First-year residents are assigned to a half-day of Continuity Clinic time each week. Second-years are assigned to two half-days of Continuity Clinic each week, while third- and fourth-year residents share up to three or four half-day clinics per week. In addition, third- and fourth-year residents have protected times in the operating rooms for their scheduled surgical cases.
