Ruby Skinner, MD, FACS, FCCP

Dr. Ruby Skinner joined the surgical faculty at Kern Medical in 2009. She is Chief of the Trauma Division and Director of the Surgical Critical Care Unit. Prior to her recruitment to Kern Medical, Dr. Skinner was in private practice in Los Angeles where she specialized in trauma, surgical critical care and acute care general surgery. She also served on the surgical faculty at Northwestern. University, Chicago. She is fellowship trained in trauma and surgical critical care. Dr. Skinner leads an active trauma research program at Kern Medical and serves on a number of regional and national trauma and critical care society committees.
Dr. Skinner specializes in all aspects of general surgery. Her research and clinical interests include: surgical strategies for complex abdominal hernia and wound management, surgical nutrition in critical illness and cost containment in critical care practices.
She is a prolific researcher, has published several articles in peer-review journals and abstracts, and has taught extensively.
