Mehr Karamat, MD

Dr. Mehr Karamat is a board-certified psychiatrist who is experienced in psychiatric emergencies, geriatrics, cognitive and developmental disorders, chemical dependency, and mood and anxiety disorders. She is skilled in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies.
Dr. Karamat received her pre-medical training at St. Christopher’s College of Medicine, Luton, England; the College of the Canyons, Valencia, Calif.; and, DeAnza College, Cupertino, Calif. She received her medical degree from Ross University Medical School, Dominica, West Indies with additional training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.
She received additional postgraduate training in the Hennepin-Regions Psychology Training Program, Minneapolis-St. Paul; and underwent fellowship training at Penn State Hershey Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
She has supervised and trained medical students and residents in outpatient and emergency room settings and has participated as a faculty member at the Hennepin-Regions Psychiatry Training Program. She has also worked with inpatients.
Dr. Karamat is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Minnesota Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association.
