Khoa Manh Tu
Dr. Khoa Manh Tu is a Kern Medical Emergency Department physician who holds degrees in medicine, chemistry and business.
Dr. Tu earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, magna cum laude, from the UC-Irvine School of Physical Science, with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He also earned his medical degree from UC-Irvine and a Master’s in Business Administration from the university’s Paul Merage School of Business.
Most recently he has worked in the Emergency Department of Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and the Urgent Care Departments of Bakersfield Family Medical Center and Sendas Northwest Urgent Care. At UC-Irvine he taught and supervised underclassmen in ultrasound scanning and served uninsured patients as a student physician at Los Alamitos Free Medical Clinic. He also was a medical assistant at
Orange County Urology Associates in Mission Viejo and a student volunteer at the Share Ourselves Free Medical Clinic in Costa Mesa.
At Kern Medical and at UC-Irvine he has conducted research on text messaging and smartphone applications in emergency medicine as well as on clinical topics at UC-Irvine. In business he has explored such topics as business plans, minimally invasive medical devices, and attracting investor capital. He has also worked as an organic chemistry and pharmacy stockroom clerk.
Dr. Tu’s work has been published in professional journals and he has taught classes and seminars and presented demonstrations in aikido, in which he holds a first-degree black belt.
